Self Service / Cloud Based Automated Deployment Service for HP-UX

The Site Ox Self-Service / Cloud Based automated deployment service for HP-UX is now ready and operational.  Please click here to order and automatically deploy your own HP-UX VM.

Site Ox has developed a new Self Service / Cloud Based automated deployment service for Hewlett Packards's HP-UX operating system. The name of this service is SOVM (Site Ox Virtual Machines). The SOVM service runs in the cloud and provides clients of this service with the ability to automatically build and deploy new HP-UX VMs onto the clients own hardware. The SOVM service can be customized by the client to fit their individual requirements for HP-UX VM resources such as operating system version, number of CPUs, amount of memory, and amount of SAN storage.

The Self Service / Cloud Based HP-UX Automated Deployment Service requires communcation with the clients HP-UX hardware resources as follows:

o HP Itanium Frame(s) designated for use by SOVM
   - Frame(s) do not need to be dedicated for use by SOVM

o Ignite Server containing HP-UX installation media to be used for automated deployment
   - Does not need to be dedicated for use by SOVM

The client may direct it's system administrators or customers to the Self Service interface in the cloud to automatically and dynamically build and deploy new HP-UX VMs as needed and on-demand.

################################################################

The SOVM user interface will provide user security. The client must have the ability to add, modify, and delete users who will have access to automatically deploy HP-UX systems.

The SOVM user interface will provide a web based interface which will allow the client to select the HP-UX VM resources such as:

 o Operating System Version
 o Number of CPU's
 o Amount of Memory
 o Amount of Storage

The SOVM user interface will provide the user with the ability to manipulate the HP-UX VM with the following functions:

 o Terminate the HP-UX VM
 o Reboot the HP-UX VM
 o Renew the HP-UX VM

The SOVM user interface will create job files, specific to each type of job needed. The job file will be named with an enterprise wide unique identifier for each client.

################################################################

The SOVM scheduling server will exist at the Site Ox Data Center and will contain the SOVM programs, scripts, and applications.

The SOVM scheduling server will poll the SOVM user interface server(s), if necessary, and download the job files.

The SOVM scheduling server will execute the job processing scripts via a scheduled cron job, and process the job files.
